"SOMETHING 4 SOMETHING"
In our addiction WE always want "something for something".
In other words....
"I will do something for you if you do something for me".
WE had to get something out of it.
Nothing less then selfish, self centered, self seeking motives.
IN RECOVERY:
We must lose these "Character Defects".
WE do things with "AGAPE LOVE".
In other words, WE do things for others without selfish, self centered motives!!
We Love UNCONDITIONALLY!
Love should NEVER have conditions.

Are you struggling with addictive behaviors or a particular stronghold? It can make us feel helpless and defeated. Before we can enjoy any real victory over sin, we have to accept that only God can change us. As we face the truth, admit our faults, and place our faith in Him, we will see results. Put your faith in action. Say, "God is working in me, and I'm getting better and better every day. He's strengthening me in my weaknesses and helping me. God's bigger than any problem I have, and He's with me all the way."

People, this is HORRIFIC. It is NOT out of a horror movie, and it happened this very morning in South Carolina. I cannot even process it. Please pray for this family. This mother is reaching out.....PLEASE.
"I am sitting in the ICU with my daughter (adult 20). She has been on meth for about 6 months and was battling this drug. Today she was across from the church by her, which is also a place for help for addicts, on her knees screaming and pulled both of her eyes out of the socket and ate them. I am completely numb right now. This doesn't seem real to me. She was struggling because she didn't want to do it anymore and I believe she was headed to that church for help. My heart is broken and she will never see again. Please pray for her and our family. This drug is evil and share if you need because she would want that to keep someone else from ever doing it the first time! Today has been the worst day of my life. I am thankful she is alive! But she will never see again. I follow a local crime group on Facebook for my area to make sure she was never on it. Someone posted the story on there from the news and the comments are inhumane! The heartless people make me sick. I have cried so much I have no tears left. I hope somehow this helps someone because my daughter would want that. She has a beautiful heart and would want to help someone! The road is going to be long for her and our family! I ask for prayer! Thank you for reading this and if just 1 child and 1 parent doesn't have to go through this it was worth telling!"

A key regulator of the effects of a variety of neuropsychiatric drugs may be found as close as your dining room table. Scientists at the University of North Carolina discovered how sodium, a major component of table salt, plays a major role in the functioning of the brain's opiod receptors. Researchers had known for more than 40 years that sodium was involved in this functioning, but never knew exactly how. A new study published in Nature used a new technique that allowed them to create a high-resolution 3D crystal structure of the delta-opiod receptor bound to sodium. The sodium atom bound to a pocket in the center of the receptor, the researchers found, and showed how specific amino acid residues helped to bind the sodium atom and how these affected the functioning of the receptor. The researchers hope that these results allow them to fine-tune how drugs work on opiod receptors to increase efficacy and decrease side effects.

A Beautiful Prayer
I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
Her spirit is whole, his body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; It isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings; happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as he loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

A Year of Days:
SEPTEMBER 25
It has taken time for me to not only understand and grasp the idea of recovery being an inside job but to then translate that idea into meaningful action and a sense of awareness in my own life. For so many years the point of view I carried around about life was centered in things that were outside of me. I was almost exclusively concerned with the external and avoided the painful work that is required for any sort of meaningful and mature introspection and personal growth. The result was that no matter how well I managed to control and contort life around me into a fashion I desired I was still vaguely discontent and disturbed. No matter how I arranged my outside life I could find no true satisfaction with myself or my life. Until I seriously and rigorously approached the task of sorting out my inside life I wasn’t able to experience what it was to access a truly new level of being content. As I look back at how the transformation occurred I realize that I had no idea what it was like until it began to happen. The many years of excessive and punishing addiction had been the final capstone on a lifetime of avoiding the personal responsibility and growth of becoming a healthy adult. As my ability in this area has grown I’ve realized and experienced a tremendous peace and freedom. I enjoy a true sense of release from an external measure of life and instead find a comfortable reliance upon a Higher Power that validates and guides my internal life. Honestly reconciling my inner disturbances and learning how to love the “who am I am” in life today allows me to face the inevitable ups and downs of life calmly and serenely. Today when I am alone I am content and relaxed with my own company and can enjoy the pleasure of solitude. That clawing and desperate sense of loneliness and shame that used to dominate my time alone with myself is gone. It is important for me today to stay in contact with the love that I have for who I am today, flawed and imperfect, but worthwhile, courageous, and sober. As I continue to build and strengthen a relationship with God I hold onto the reminder that the absence of self-love is shame and that today I am free from the bondage of self and eligible for the full humanity of my daily life.

A WAKE UP CALL:
Michelle Bryan
* To the "mother" who chose drugs over her kid *
Your child will never understand why she was not good enough for you to stick around. Why you chose to run off for several days and get high instead of staying at home with her. She will never understand why you were to sick to get up and play with her. She thinks that she needs to take Tylenol so she can feel good & be like you! Your child doesn't even know how to interact with people. Her mouth has been hurting her for the week you have been gone. She told me she was waiting on you to take her to the dentist. And would you believe she thinks she needs to climb up in somebody's lap to get what she wants because that's what she has seen you do?! If her plate isn't made first she sits at the table and cries because she doesn't know if she is going to get to eat. She thinks it's ok that she takes a shower once a week when her Daddy picks her up. The F word is part of her regular vocabulary!! Are you proud of that?? She thinks it's normal to have to hide the knifes so you don't cut yourself. And she is scared to go to a store that a police car is sitting at. That six year old little girl has been to more drug houses than most adults. And God only knows the rest of the stuff she has seen or been through. She deserves so much better than this & hopefully she won't have to live in this nightmare any longer! It's just so unfair.
** Please pray for not only this kid but all kids in situations like this. It's truly heartbreaking to witness first hand.

* To the "mother" who chose drugs over her kid *
Your child will never understand why she was not good enough for you to stick around. Why you chose to run off for several days and get high instead of staying at home with her.
