Don't text and drive people. One dumb decision on your end could seriously destroy another person or family. It's a simple task to put down your phone until you reach your destination or pull over. Nothing is important enough to risk the lives of people you don't know.

Attention Parents:This is what 2 beers, 2 shots of Captain Morgan, 2 shots of apple pie moonshine, 2 shots of whiskey, and a handful of liquor soaked blueberries looks like on a 16 year old.
My daughter and her cousin decided to throw themselves a party last night while they were home alone for 2 hours at their dads' house. They raided the liquor cabinet and when my ex husband got home he found the girls drunk and our daughter unresponsive. He rushed her to the hospital in Wyoming, and Court and I met him there.
When I arrived I was rushed into the ER and there was my child, lying on a gurney. She was covered in heated blankets to combat hyperthermia - her body temperature was 95 degrees. She was being pumped full of iv fluids. One of the tubes in her throat was running into her stomach continously draining the fluid therein.
It took the ER team 3 attempts to intubate Taylor, they tore her throat up in the process. It was necessary - so she could be attached to the ventilator which spent the next 13 hours breathing for her, because she wasn't able to breathe on her own.
She was rushed by ambulance to U of M Amplatz Children's Hospital around midnight.
My daughter's symptoms were caused by her blood alcohol level reaching it's plateau at .43.
More than 5 times the legal limit.
High enough to kill a grown man.
The Doctors at Amplatz made it very clear to us that had her father had not found our child when he did, she would have undoubtedly died in that house last night.
We, by the Grace Of God alone, will not be burying our child this week. But only because we are extremely blessed.
And extremely lucky.
Some party.
I hope my daughter and my niece understand how fortunate they both are. I hope they learned a valuable lesson in this. And I hope this experience shared can help prevent another child losing her life to alcohol.
Parents: 2 hours. They were only alone for 2 hours.
Kids: 2 beers and 6 shots is all it took to almost kill this girl. Help raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol poisoning and teenage binge drinking.
I never thought I could find us in a situation like this.
Neither did Taylor.
Maybe we should have.

My prayer this morning is for the owners of abandoned animals, the dumped, unclaimed animals,
the so what it’s just a horse, so what it’s just a dog, It’s just a cat, no they are family. And no they won’t be ok, until a rescuer, a foster, and transport, gets them in a new loving home. By not keeping them safe, you gave them a death sentence! I pray they will in time get homes, they they will get to know peace, love and comfort. That they will never know pain, heartache or hungry ! I pray their bellies will always be full and their hearts always happy!!! And I will even pray for you,
Keep your pets, safe at home, vet check them, don’t let them roam! Spay or neuter them to stop the circle, of unwanted, no city tags, owner abandoned, animals that need vet attention. Amen May you all have a blessed week, for me it’s time to go feed the critters.

The woman on the left is a mother from Miami who was so desperate to feed her hungry family that she was trying to steal a lot of food.
The woman on the right is Miami-Dade County Police Officer Vicki Thomas. Officer Thomas was about to arrest Jessica Robles but changed her mind at the last minute.
Instead of arresting her, she bought Robles $100 worth of groceries:
“I made the decision to buy her some groceries because arresting her wasn't going to solve the problem with her children being hungry.”
And there’s no denying they were hungry. Robles’ 12 year old daughter started crying when she told local TV station WSVN about how dire their situation was:
“[It's] not fun to see my brother in the dirt hungry, asking for food, and we have to tell him, ‘There is nothing here.’"
Officer Thomas says she has no question that what she did was right:
“To see them go through the bags when we brought them in, it was like Christmas. That $100 to me was worth it.”
But Officer Thomas did have one request:
“The only thing I asked of her is, when she gets on her feet, that she help someone else out. And she said she would.”
And guess what? The story gets even better.
After word got out about what happened people donated another $700 for Jessica Robles to spend at the grocery store.
And then best of all a local business owner invited her in for an interview and ended up hiring her on the spot as a customer service rep.
She started crying when he told her:
“There's no words how grateful I am that you took your time and helped somebody out. Especially somebody like me.”
And to think it all started with one veteran police officer trusting her “instinct” instead of going “by the book”.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS!
... I have pulled dead, mangled bodies from cars...
I have lied to people as they were dying.
I said you are going to be fine as I held their hand and watched the life fade out.
I have held dying babies. Bought lunch for people who were mentally ill and haven't eaten in a while.
I have had people try to stab me. Fought with men trying to shoot me.
Ben attacked by women who have had the shit kicked out of them by their husband as I was arresting him.
I have held towels on bullet wounds.
Done CPR when I knew it wouldn't help just to make family members feel better.
I have torn down doors, fought in drug houses. Chased fugitives though the woods.
I have been in high speed car chases.
Foot chases across an interstate during rush hour traffic.
I have been in crashes. Been squeezing the trigger about to kill a man when they came to their senses and stopped. Waded through large angry crowds by myself. Drove like a mad man to help a fellow officer. Let little kids who don't have much sit in my patrol car and pretend they are a cop for their birthday.
I have taken a lot of people to jail. Given many breaks. Prayed for people I don't even know. Yes and at times I have been "violent" when I had to be. I have been kind when I could..
I admit I have drove to some dark place and cried by myself when I was overwhelmed.
I have missed Christmas and other holidays more than I wanted too.
Every cop I know has done all these things and more for lousy pay, suckie hours and a short life expectancy. We don't want your pity, I don't care for your respect. Just let us do our jobs without killing us...please.
Thank you...

Today as I am making a pot of gumbo I'm thinking of my family and my southern roots. I'm thankful for every member of my extended family and the love that binds us together. I'm thankful for the many cultures and ethnicities that make up that family through marriage, birth, and adoption. We are white and brown and everything in between--European, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, African American, and Native American. And we are all better people because of our love for each other. I'm thankful for our parents, who grew up and lived in the Jim Crow south, but taught us to judge people not by the color of their skin, or their political beliefs, or their disability, or their faith (or lack thereof), but by what is in their hearts. And as I think of my family I have hope for the future of our country and our world. In the words of Tiny Tim, "God bless us every one!"
